My portrait styles range from realistic to painterly. My signature works are the Home Jazz series, depicting an orchestra of activity in the home, and the Gold series using genuine gold leaf to represent a 2D visual as an ornamental decoration. I am equally comfortable producing a realistic portrait. After completing my first wave of treatment for a life-threatening disease, I decided to turn my back on a law degree and a teaching role to make painting my full-time career. Mainly self-taught, I joined the Contemporary Portraiture Diploma course at The Art Academy in Autumn 2016 and continue to develop my practice and explore different styles. In the past 12 months, I have been selected for the 2017 Ruth Borchard Self-Portrait competition/exhibition, shortlisted for a major Sky Arts TV painting competition as well as help launch the LondonCP8, a group of eight emerging artists based in London.
